Civic Activities

For over three years, volunteers from CCCC have been the "official photographers" for Preservation North Carolina, the Raleigh Historic Development Commission, and Historic Oakwood.  Through 2011, Club members have planned and executed approximately 50 photo shoots.  Over 2,000 selected and edited photos have been donated to these organizations.  The photo subjects are primarily the exteriors and interiors of historic properties that these organizations are working to preserve.  Club members have also documented the annual Candlelight Tour of Historic Oakwood.  Learn more about these organizations at www.presnc.org, www.rhdc.org, and www.historicoakwood.org.

Preservation North Carolina

In May 2008, members of the Capital City Camera Club of Raleigh approached PNC about collaborating on a new volunteer project: the Camera Club would put together teams of photographers interested in architectural photography, and PNC would supply interesting and challenging subject matter. Thus far, the collaboration has yielded impressive results.

Over a three-year period, twenty Club volunteers have taken photos of PNC properties and donated them to PNC.

Bunn NC Project

In 2010-11 seven photographers from the Club made multiple trips to Bunn to photo-document many parts of this small town and events happening there.  Mike Acquesta, a Club member, is also the Consulting Engineer for the Town.  He organized the effort to photo-document the town so that years from now, a photo record would exist.
From the hundred best photos taken of the buildings and people there, two town representatives selected ten photos to be printed as 11X14s or 12X18s.  These were then framed and hung on the walls of Town Hall.  The Mayor then issued the Proclamation shown below.  As of January, 2012 a print-on-demand photo book is being designed so that residents can purchase and view approximately 50 of the photos.

Raleigh Historic Development Commission Project

Club volunteers have been the primary photographers for the RHDC since 2009.  Approximately a dozen Club volunteers have photographed over 100 Historic Landmark properties in Raleigh and donated the photos to the RHDC.
