Competition Rules Summary

Print Competition (PC) Rules Summary

Eligibility: Print Competitions are open to all members in good standing. The original image capture (whether digital or film based) must be less than 5 years old for entrance into the competition, and must have been captured by the entrant. Images that received a 7 or higher previously, are not eligible.
Subject Themes: Each year there are normally four (4) competitions. The competition themes are determined by the Competition Chairman, with input from the CCCC board. At least one will be Open subjects. Photographic content should be suitable for all age public viewing.
Submission Categories: B&W Prints, Color Prints (no slides).

B&W Prints: This category encompasses traditional B&W prints and monochromatic prints (i.e. grayscale, sepia, duotone).

Color Prints: This category encompasses full color prints or multicolor tinted monochromatic prints.

Submission Acceptance: Two entries are permitted in each of the print categories (B&W and Color) per competition. Prints must be mounted on a stiff board. Matting is highly encouraged to prevent print damage during competition. Overall size must not be more than 20”X20” which includes mount and matte, if any(no frames). Neither the photographer’s name, nor the print title may appear on the front of the print or matting. Entrants should  arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to competition, and label their entries (labels are provided). Prints must be identified on the back, in the upper right corner, with the approved club print label. See either the CCCC website, or CCCC Yahoo website's Files, CCCC Competitions folder for labels PDF. Do not expose any double-stick tape on either side, as the prints are stacked during processing.
Competition Scoring: A 9 point scoring will be provided for each submitted photograph. Judges are expected to comment as part of the teaching process. Overall technical quality, composition and impact are factors of major concern, but judges may use any basis of point allocation they desire. Awards will be given for first place, second place, third place, and honorable mentions (10/7/5/3 points)in each submission category (Color and B&W). HMs should be awarded for every six entries beginning with 12. Any photographs receiving 9 points that did not receive an award will get 1 point for POY. Winners should forward a JPEG to Competition@capcitycameraclub.com for display on the website.

 

Photo Challenge Competition (PCC) Rules Summary

Eligibility: (Same as Print Competitions.)
Subject Themes: The Competition Chairman, with input from the CCCC Board, will determine the number and themes of the Challenges. Photographic content should be suitable for all age public viewing.
Submission Acceptance: Digital JPEGs with the longest dimension not exceeding 1024 pixels, sRGB color space, 72 ppi, should be submitted to the Competition Chairman through e-mail to PhotoChallenge@capcitycameraclub.com. The number of photographs and theme will be announced prior to the submission date. Filenames should include the theme, category, 1 or 2, photographer's first and last names.
(ex. ThemeC1FirstLastname.jpg or ThemeBW2FirstLastname.jpg)
Competition Scoring: Three judges will score each submission at the meeting. In the event of ties for awards, the judges should re-score their votes or otherwise determine the positions. First place is awarded 3 points, second is worth 2 points, and third, 1 point. These will be included in the Photographer of the Year (POY) standings.

 

Website Photo Of The Month (POM) Competition


Eligibility: (Same as Print Competitions.)
Subject Themes: Normally the POM competition does not have a theme. If a theme is to be used for a particular month, it will be announced by the POM Administrator prior to the submission date. The competition themes are determined by the Competition Chairman with input from the CCCC board. Photograph content should be suitable for all age public viewing.
Submission Acceptance: One digital JPEG with the longest dimension not exceeding 1024 pixels, sRGB color space, 72 ppi, should be submitted to the POM Coordinator through e-mail to POM@capcitycameraclub.com, by the 15th of the month. Filenames should include the month, and the photographer's first and last names.

Competition Scoring: CCCC members may vote monthly, after the 15th, on two photographs that are displayed on the CCCC website. Each month a winner will be chosen based on the Yahoo! Group poll, and be awarded 1 point, to be included in the POY standings.

Photographer of the Year (POY)

Points from all three competitions will be combined by the Competition Chairman and announced at the annual banquet in December. Prizes may be determined by the CCCC Board.
